Five Michigan men are now in jail on drug charges after a traffic stop on I-80 Tuesday afternoon. According to Sheriff Mike Lowell, a deputy was patrolling around 4:00pm and pulled over an eastbound 2017 Dodge van with Kentucky license plates for following too closely and making unsafe lane changes.

The Seven County Infrastructure Coalition is exploring the possibilities of running a railway that would connect the Uintah Basin to the national railway network, which currently ends in Craig, Colorado. According to Coalition Executive Director Mike McKee, Jones and DeMille Engineering recently analyzed the feasibility study for rail out of the Basin that was performed several years ago, looking at the alternative options, and found that the Craig rail line was worthy of consideration.
Smoke clouded the air on Sunday in west Duchesne County due to multiple wildfires that had taken off in Wasatch County near Strawberry Reservoir in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Those fires, the Soldier Creek Fire and Trout Creek Fire primarily, threatened cabins and resulted in evacuations of campgrounds and hunters in the area.
Thanks to the quick thinking of a group of junior rangers, two vandals are being held accountable for their decision to deface a historical site within Dinosaur National Monument on Friday. According to monument staff, “a 23-year-old female and a 30-year-old male thought it would be fun to carve their initials on an area with 1,000 year old Fremont Petroglyphs at a site known as Swelter Shelter.”

Vernal Regional Airport Director Doug Brown provided an airport update to local officials during the monthly city/county meeting held in Vernal on Monday. According to Brown, the current phase of construction on the runway project is on pace to be complete by December 7th and the final phase will be finished no later than June 25th.

Those excited for the upland game hunt in Utah have extra reason to feel eager this year. The Division of Wildlife Resources has announced that they plan to release more than 10,000 pen-reared pheasants on public hunting areas and that the hunt on private land will be longer than last year.
A 36-year-old man is wanted by the FBI and Bureau of Indian Affairs for an incident that took place on the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation last week. According to FBI Public Affairs Specialist Sandra Yi Barker, George Anthony Salinas is wanted in connection with a domestic assault that happened at a home on the reservation at around midnight on Tuesday, October 17th.
