Four people have been formally charged following a domestic dispute where shots were fired in Fruitland, reports the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office. The shots were fired at a vehicle after the driver threatened to crash into a makeshift cabin.
Today is the last day to submit arguments For or Against Proposition 5, a local sales tax option that will be included on the November Uintah County ballot. The Proposition asks voters to decide if Uintah County shall be authorized to impose a quarter of one percent sales tax which is the equivalent of 1 cent for every $4 dollars spent for the purpose of transportation services such as roads, traffic, pedestrian safety, public transit and non-motorized transportation
Multiple individuals were recognized during the Uintah Basin Technical College board meeting held on Wednesday. Weslie Porter, Director of Energy Services, was presented a Certificate of Appreciation from the Department of Defense for outstanding service for his country, community and at UBTech. Porter was recently promoted to a Major in the United States Army.
A Roosevelt man is the last of four individuals sentenced in a case of kidnapping in which one man was forced to shoot the other. 46-year-old Theron Myore was sentenced last week to prison for first-degree felony murder in the death of 34-year-old Cleat Knight in 2014

In the state of Utah there is an average of 10 suicides a week and the data shows that since 2016, it is the leading cause of death in children ages 10 to 17 in the state.
The Big Red Fire located in northwest Colorado near the Wyoming border has doubled in size. An update released on Tuesday states that major growth of the fire in the past several days is to the east, moving toward the Continental Divide.
