KNEU 1250The 100 days of summer travel between Memorial and Labor Day are considered the busiest days on Utah roads and Highway Patrol continues to urge caution. While the goal is always zero fatalities on Utah roads, that period of time is also unfortunately known as summer’s 100 deadliest days.

The Outlaw ATV Jamboree is being considered a great success. Over 100 vehicles were registered and over double that many participants attended the 3-day event over the weekend in Uintah County. The Uintah County Commission approved bids for upgrades to the Uintah County Jail security system during their Monday meeting. Cache Valley Electric out of Logan was the only company to bid on two separate projects.
The Uintah Recreation District will begin the hunt for a new golf pro at the Dinaland Golf Course this fall. Todd Meyer has served in that position very well since 2007 but has taken a new job opportunity as the Director of Instruction for the PGA at Desert Pines Golf Club in Las Vegas.
The Duchesne County Fair is right around the corner and the Duchesne County Commission is doing their part to ensure the fairgrounds are up and ready to go. In July, Building and Grounds Director Shane Jenkins explained to the Commission that there is a 200 amp service at the fairgrounds and he presented a bid from Mike Frandsen in the amount of $6,905 dollars to upgrade the power.
Isn’t it about time you hit the beach to beat the summer heat? After an extremely successful season, Uintah County’s summer day trips are coming to an end on Wednesday, August 3rd. Day trippers need to meet at the museum at 9:00am prepared with sunscreen, beach towels and whatever you need for you and your kids to enjoy the sand, water and sun at the Steinaker Reservoir beach. There will be tunes courtesy of KLCY and cold drinks compliments of Coca Cola. A new option for hunting elk is available in Utah. The Division of Wildlife Resources is getting the word out: Privatelandsonly permits are intended to push elk off private property and back onto public land, thus making hunting on public land better in the future.
Statements were released yesterday by Representative Rob Bishop, Senator Mike Lee and Governor Gary Herbert following the Energy and Natural Resources field hearing on the potential Bears Ears monument designation. “Having been in San Juan County [Thursday], it is more clear than ever to me that the Public Lands Initiative is the will of the people, not a national monument,” says Representative Bishop.
