KNEU 1250Thanks to the creativity and hard work of local leaders, Vernal Holly Days was a major success! In order to follow COVID-19 guidelines, the Holly Days celebration turned into home focused activities with only a few of the big events where social distancing was possible.
With cases still rising in the TriCounty Health District all are asked to be diligent in efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Uintah School District has asked the community to please help keep schools open for in-person attendance. If your student feels sick, is waiting for the results of a COVID-19 test or has been told to quarantine due to exposure to a positive case, please have your student stay home.
The Sub For Seniors program has a record number of local senior citizens in need this year that they hope to spread Christmas cheer to but they need the community’s help. The Sub For Seniors program in Uintah County started in 2015 and delivered Christmas gift bags to 92 local seniors.
The public comment period for the Draft Environmental Impact Study or EIS for the proposed Uinta Basin Railway is in its final few weeks and the final three public meetings are being held virtually this week. Comments have been welcomed and encouraged as the information provided will be considered and reviewed by the Surface Transportation Board as they analyze the project and whether or not the railway will have a future.
Tradition must go on! Union High Drama Department will be presenting ‘Fiddler on the Roof’, after having to delay the production due to COVID-19 restrictions. Colorado Parks and Wildlife shares that ‘the passage of Proposition 114 has led to increased interest in wolves in Colorado, specifically, the wolf pack previously confirmed to be present in Moffat County.

TriCounty Health Department provided an update on Tuesday concerning the steady increase of local cases of COVID-19. Sadly, there has been one new death in Duchesne County, for a total of five COVID-19 related deaths in the tri-county area.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife is seeking information about seven elk that were recently shot and left about 20 miles north of Craig. According to a press release, a concerned citizen contacted wildlife officers on November 22nd and it was believed the incident occurred on November 20th.
