KNEU 1250Pumpkin flavor is popping up in all our favorite foods, the sun is south of the equator and we are officially into fall. That means the fall tradition of the Bluebell Corn Maze. The annual Lose Yourself Fun Run will be held on Saturday, September 26th. Those still wanting to participate can register at the maze on race-day.
The National Interscholastic Cycling Association high school race is this weekend in Vernal and it’s likely you’ll make note even if you don’t make it up to Buckskin Hills to cheer the mountain bike racers on. Hotels and restaurants will be bustling with over 1200 registered riders and 3,000 to 4,000 total visitors to the area expected for the weekend.
Coronavirus has affected many people and their livelihood, including the farmers of Utah. Disruption of distribution left the farmers in a very difficult situation that was resting heavy on Ron Gibson, president of the Utah Farm Bureau. After talking about it on a radio show, a man reached out to ask how he could help.

U.S. District Court issued another decision and order this week in the case between Veronica Wopsock versus Duchesne County Sheriff’s Deputy Derek Dalton and other parties. The lawsuit was filed in 2012 with Wopsock claiming that Deputy Dalton sexually assaulted her during a traffic stop on September 4th, 2011.
A Duchesne County Sheriff’s Captain has been recognized for his role in the creation and implementation of the statewide correctional standards. “Over the past two years, Captain Jeremy Curry has been working with the Utah Department of Corrections, the State of Utah and the Utah Sheriffs Association creating unified jail standards for all facilities housing offenders,” shares Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office.
Friends Against Family Violence are in need of bed donations from the community. “In the past 45 days, Friends Against Family Violence has helped furnish 3 apartments for survivors!” shares their announcement. “We were able to provide beds for 3 adults and 4 children, however, we have used up all of the beds from our storage unit.
The smoke from fires locally and across the west have recently blurred the scenic views of the Basin. To help put the smoke into perspective, TriCounty Health Department is explaining a few things about air quality and its effect on those with asthma. Asthma is one of the most common diseases in children.
Studies have shown that eating dinner with your family reduces underage drinking, tobacco use, and drug misuse, while lowering suicide rates. That is one of the reasons there is a National Eat Dinner with Your Family Day. To celebrate this day, Roosevelt City’s Arts, Parks, and Recreation Committee is partnering with the TriCounty Prevention Advisory Coalition to host “Eat Dinner in the Park” on Monday, September 28th, from 5-7:30 p.m.
