Ashley Regional is working with TriCounty Health Department on a daily basis and has implemented their emergency management plan.
One man’s pursuit of treasure came at a tragically high cost last week in Dinosaur National Monument. Two missing men that had been reported snowmobiling along the border of Utah and Colorado in the Wild Mountain Area were found on Saturday by search and rescue crews within the Monument, one alive and the other deceased.
Every year, thanks to the Showalter Endowment Fund, teachers are recognized in the Uintah School District for their excellence in teaching. The community nominates teachers and the Uintah Schools Foundation has the near impossible job of narrowing the pool down to two teachers.
Dinosaur National Monument has announced modifications to operations to implement the guidance from the CDC, White House, and state and local authorities. “As of Noon, Monday, March 23rd, 2020, all river trips/operations in Dinosaur National Monument are canceled until further notice,” shares the Monument.
The Department of Workforce Services provided an update on the latest employment data which is a snapshot of February. Utah’s nonfarm payroll employment grew by 2.9 percent, adding 44,300 jobs to the economy since February 2019. February’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was estimated at 2.5 percent with approximately 40,400 Utahns unemployed and seeking work in February.

The FBI is warning the public that fraud schemes related to the COVID-19 pandemic are on the rise. “Scammers are leveraging the COVID-19 pandemic to steal your money, your personal information, or both,” shares the FBI.
8th District Court Judge Ed Peterson issued an order on Monday, March 23rd, reinstating Dave Chivers to the Uintah School Board as a lawsuit filed by Chivers against the Uintah School Board and the Uintah County Clerk-Auditor goes through the legal process. The Uintah School Board and Uintah County Clerk-Auditor have until June 1st to reply to the complaint.
State leaders announced on Monday that Utah’s K-12 public schools will be extending their dismissal through Friday, May 1st. The closure was originally planned until Monday, March 30th, though an extension does not come as a surprise. Uintah School District shared after the announcement that they had anticipated the extension and they are prepared to continue to serve students.
In response to the growing danger of the COVID-19 outbreak, Duchesne County has declared a local state of emergency. With both federal and state agencies recognizing the potential global impact and the ease by which it spreads from person to person, measures are being put into place to help deal with the negative impact to the community.

It is a situation that will be monitored day to day as the course strives to maintain the safety of guests. The Roosevelt Golf Course has taken the following precautions and asks that those who come to the course help the public to stay safe. The door handles and carts are constantly and consistently disinfected.
