The Uintah Basin Youth Pheasant Hunt is this Saturday, September 22nd, at Pleasant Valley. This is the only one of these events hosted by the Division of Wildlife Resources being held in the northern zone of the state. The southern zone hunt is taking place on September 29th.
Big city displays filled the Grace Event Center during the Roosevelt Branch Library Fandom party over the weekend. “”It was amazing,” shares Roosevelt Librarian Stephen Moon. “We had prizes from D.C. Entertainment, Wizard World Conventions, and New York Comic Con.” Over 150 people attended the event and everything ran smoothly.
While the Boone Draw Fire, located 50 miles west of Craig, did cross into a wild horse management area, officials are reporting that the herd in that area has not been displaced to a great extent. According to the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office, 202 acres of the 8,683 acre fire are within the Sand Wash Basin Wild Horse Herd Management Area.

Emily Despain was one of more than 1.6 million Juniors from about 22,000 high schools across the United States that took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test during her Junior year.
Many of the state’s reservoirs are at below average water levels while Flaming Gorge is staying high and strong. According to the Bureau of Reclamation report update on September 10th, Flaming Gorge is still at 92 percent of its live capacity. Daily average releases are set at 2,000 cfs. Flow into Flaming Gorge Reservoir during the month of August was only 47 percent of average but still kept the reservoir above 90 percent of capacity.
The Roosevelt Branch Library took to Facebook with some exciting news on Wednesday announcing that Duchesne County is moving forward with building a larger library in Roosevelt. The library staff has been pushing this for over 5 years and now that the ball is rolling, they want to see this dream become a reality and are asking for community support.

Gary Hall, from Global Preparedness, LLC, provided ISO-POD training. An ISO-POD is a portable vinyl enclosure that creates a negative airspace to transport patients with biologically infectious diseases.

Sweetwater County Sheriff Mike Lowell has issued a warning of a new “Fake Check” scam now circulating. “This is a mail scam that is something more elaborate than others,” shares Sheriff Lowell. “It’s set up in such a way that cursory Internet searches can make it look legitimate.”

Hunting season has arrived and Dinosaur National Monument has a message to share: Hunting is not permitted within the boundaries of the monument. “Although most of the monument boundary is well marked, hunters are responsible for ensuring they do not hunt within the monument. By knowing and understanding the rules and regulations applicable in the national monument, hunters will be better prepared to enjoy their trips,” shares Chief of Visitor Services Dan Johnson.
