Representative Rob Bishop, joined by the entire Utah House delegation and supported also by the Senate, introduced HR 4825: the Marijuana Effective Drug Study Act this week. Known as the MEDS Act, the effort is aimed at creating a reasoned and responsible environment where the best minds are able to analyze and examine marijuana for medicinal use.
A Uintah County woman has been charged with felony child abuse of an infant under 1 year of age. The charge of child abuse was filed on January 11th against 21-year-old Gracelynn Rae Yazzie citing a January 5th incident. The 2nd degree felony child abuse charge is stated to have inflicted serious physical injury intentionally. According to the Probable Cause Statement, Yazzie was the adult caregiver to a child under the age of 1 when “the child was seriously burned on his legs and feet.
Travelers beware. The Utah Department of Transportation Traffic Operations Center has issued a road weather alert with the forecast period outlined as noon on Friday through 6pm on Saturday. A significant storm is scheduled to bring large accumulations of snow starting Friday afternoon and the entire route of Highway 40 is included on the list of high concern for motorists.

The Uintah Basin Water Summit welcomed state and local leaders to the Grace Event Center in Roosevelt on Wednesday. Many speakers addressed water issues in the Basin and of course the low snowpack was a topic of concern.
