Local Places in Nikon Small World Photomicrography Competition

For over five decades there has been the Nikon Small World Photography Competition and a Uintah Basin resident is in this year’s Top 15. According to the administrators of the event, it is a specialized activity that combines scientific knowledge as well as craftsmanship within the lens. In particular, the event first began in 1975 as a means to recognize and applaud the efforts of those involved with photography through the light microscope. Since then, Small World has become a leading showcase for photomicrographers from the widest array of scientific disciplines. On October 11th, competition officials released the 2022 top 20 photographs. In 13th place was a local, Randy Fullbright of Fullbright Studio. He is from Vernal and took a picture of an agatized dinosaur bone. In layman terms it was a brightly colored snap of a fossilized bone piece dyed yellow and blue zoomed in 60 times with objective lens magnification.
