Bison in the Book Cliffs experienced a significant die-off event during the end of July and the beginning of August. The recent deaths reduced the adult bison population in the Bitter Creek area by almost 40%.
As of August 21st, Stage 2 Fire Restriction Orders have been rescinded for Uintah, Daggett, Duchesne, and Wasatch counties. Stage 1 fire restrictions are still in place.
The Slough Canyon Fire more than tripled in size over the weekend. The fire was mapped on Saturday around noon at 810 acres but is now listed at 3000 acres and 0% contained.
