The Uintah County Commission approved adoption of the 2017 General Plan during Monday’s Commission meeting. City Planner Matt Cazier presented the plan to those in attendance stating that they have been going through this process for a little more than a year and that the resource management plan, which is part of the General Plan, was approved in August to meet a state deadline.

The gathering of up to 100 wild horses is now underway. The horses are those that have strayed from the Herd Management Area onto private lands in northwestern Colorado. The Douglas Herd Management Area covers 300-square-miles southwest of Meeker.
