KNEU 1250A Salt Lake man was arrested and booked into Uintah County Jail on Monday for kidnapping following an incident that began in Salt Lake City and ended in Tridell. According to the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, Central Dispatch began receiving calls early in the afternoon on Labor Day from a female that sounded in distress but the woman would hang up before information could be gathered.
A Roosevelt man is the last of four individuals sentenced in a case of kidnapping in which one man was forced to shoot the other. 46-year-old Theron Myore was sentenced last week to prison for first-degree felony murder in the death of 34-year-old Cleat Knight in 2014

Suicide is a serious problem in Utah and unfortunately the Uintah Basin has had a surge in suicides and is among the highest in the state. In the state of Utah there is an average of 10 suicides a week and the data shows that since 2016, it is the leading cause of death in children ages 10 to 17 in the state.
Multiple individuals were recognized during the Uintah Basin Technical College board meeting held on Wednesday. Weslie Porter, Director of Energy Services, was presented a Certificate of Appreciation from the Department of Defense for outstanding service for his country, community and at UBTech. Porter was recently promoted to a Major in the United States Army.
Improvements are constantly underway to areas in the Ashley National Forest including making trails more user friendly. An improvement project currently underway is to the pass on the Center Park Trail, Trail 59. The project is going well and is expected to be complete by this weekend. The Montana Conservation Corps or MCC, has worked in partnership with Ashley National Forest Wilderness Crew on the project. MCC is modeled after the Civilian Conservation Corps of the 1930s that focuses on young adult development through conservation projects. The projects range from trail construction and maintenance to fencing, habitat restoration, historic building renovation and campground improvements.
