Basin Among Stops for Man Charged in Prescription Drug Abuse Case
Prescription drug abuse is a growing problem across Utah and the nation. One Salt Lake man has been charged with 5 counts of theft of services in connection with an extensive case of using fake names at medical facilities to obtain prescription medications and Duchesne County was among his many stops across Utah.
Resurrecting the Shark Book Signing
This month’s Utah Field House lecture will include some exciting pre-show events. Author Susan Ewing and researcher Dr. Leif Tapanila are presenting for Thursday’s lecture and will be available beforehand at two signing events for the book Resurrecting the Shark.
Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra Players Prepped for UBOC
A group of talented young musicians are ready to bring the beauty of the arts to the Basin this weekend. The Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra’s spring concert is being held this Saturday and an impressive program is in store. UBYCO’s co-conductors are each musicians in the Uintah Basin Orchestra and Chorus, the youth orchestra’s parent organization, and each support the youth orchestra as a feeder program into UBOC.
Uintah County Commission Makes Board Appointments/Tables Ordinance
An ordinance on Monday’s Uintah County Commission meeting agenda has been tabled until a third Commissioner is seated. The ordinance proposes to revise the “Parliamentary Procedure Rule regarding Voting Rights of Members of the Board of County Commissioners.”

Flood Safety Awareness Week could hold special meaning this year as flooding due to spring runoff poses a real threat. Officials in Duchesne and Uintah Counties have been watching snowpack and when and where spring temperatures could cause the greatest flood damage.
Additional Warrant Issued in Roosevelt Gang Violence Case
A warrant for a fourth person charged in a case of gang violence in Roosevelt has been issued. A warrant for 19-year-old Landon James Nez has been added to three others already charged with kidnapping and aggravated assault.
