Road Closure in Dinosaur National Monument
A road within Dinosaur National Monument is now closed after it was discovered to have washed out around a large culvert. Acting Superintendent Eric Gabriel announced the closure of the Rainbow Park/Island Park Road on Thursday, stating that the Rainbow Park Campground and Boat Ramp are now inaccessible.

Livestock Harassment Bill Progressing
A bill sponsored by the Basin’s local representative could make Utah the first state in the nation to make drone harassment of livestock a crime. HB 217, sponsored by Representative Scott Chew, moved onto the Senate floor this week after unanimously passing in the House.
HB 117 Makes it Past Senate Committee
With the help of Uintah High School government students, House Bill 117 has now made it past the Senate Committee and will be on the Senate floor by next week. Representative Scott Chew brought the team of bright students on board for House Bill 117 that updates and amends the statute dealing with legal notices.
Drug Interdiction and Human Trafficking Training for UHP
The men and women of Utah Highway Patrol recently received training to keep Basin roads safe in ways beyond driving enforcement. According to Sgt. Kellie Oaks, the troopers received further training in drug interdiction and human trafficking.
Daggett County Centennial Celebrations to Kick Off
It’s been an amazing 100 years and Daggett County plans to celebrate all year long! On July 31st, 1917, a vote was taken to approve the formation of Daggett County. The state legislature made the decision to separate the northern part of Uintah County into its own county and Manila was named as the county seat.
UBYCO Excited for 2017 Opportunities
The second concert for the Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra is coming up but that is not the only exciting event this spring for the talented young group. In addition to the March 18th concert, the group is preparing to be featured in the Uintah Basin Orchestra and Chorus concert on April 8th where they will play Pirates of the Caribbean side by side with the UBOC performers.
