KNEU 1250Today, Monday, November 7th, is the last day mail in ballots can be postmarked in order to count in Tuesday’s election. Rural areas of the state need to consider carefully their best course of action if they have waited until today to put their ballot in the mail.
A Uintah County man has been charged with 1st Degree Felony Rape and 2nd Degree Felony Forcible Sexual Abuse. According to court documents, 29-year-old Zachary Trujillo allegedly committed the offenses on July 16th. No details of the crimes are included in court records but it does state that the victim is 14-years of age or older.

Communities and law enforcement officers throughout the region are mourning the death of a young West Valley City police officer on Sunday morning. Three people stole a vehicle from an apartment complex and a chase ensued with police. As 25-year-old Officer Cody Brotherson was deploying spike strips to stop the car, he was struck by the stolen vehicle and died at the scene.

Tundra swans are arriving throughout northern Utah this week. As of November 1st, biologists with the Division of Wildlife Resources had spotted more than 4,700 swans.
March of Dimes has recognized Ashley Regional Medical Center for “its work to give babies a healthier start in life.” TheThursday announcement explains that the hospital earned the recognition after reducing the number of elective inductions and cesarean deliveries at the hospital performed before 39 weeks of pregnancy to less than one percent.

Uintah County Sheriff Vance Norton and members of his team attended training this week focused on dealing with new opiate drugs and one drug in particular that is killing people throughout the United States.
