A new memorial is standing tall in Moffat County. The statue of a soldier has been placed near the Craig VFW. The memorial will eventually include lighting and flags as well as new landscaping.

Bomb Squad Disarms Pot of Stew
A suspicious looking object on the side of I-80 caused serious concern on Tuesday in Sweetwater County. According to the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office, bomb technicians were called in when an object, suspected to be a pressure cooker bomb, was spotted on the ground at a truck parking area 35 miles east of Rock Springs.
Case of Vernal Domestic Violence Escalates to Rape Charge
A case of domestic violence in Vernal has one man facing six charges including one count of rape. According to the Vernal Police Probable Cause statement, 27-year-old Zachary David Perrin was arrested on August 17th as he tried to flee from the Basin but was stopped in Duchesne County and brought into custody.
Uintah County Commission Considers Security Contract with Simplot
Uintah County Commissioners are considering a security contract for the Sheriff’s Office with Simplot mine. A proposal from Simplot mine was presented during Monday’s Commission meeting that would contract with the Sheriff’s Office to patrol the company’s fence lines during the general elk and deer seasons.

Duchesne County Focuses on Road Repair Efforts
Repair efforts are ongoing throughout the Basin following Thursday’s rain and subsequent flooding. According to Duchesne County Commissioner Ron Winterton, road crews are out with graders focused on the hardest hit areas mostly in the southern part of the county.
