KNEU 1250The Old Fort Ponds in Uintah County are a popular fishing spot and the site has received increased use in recent days. Unfortunately, there are some not showing respect during their visit and littering has become an increasing problem. DWR Conservation Outreach Manager Tonya Kieffer-Selby shares that regional biologists visited the ponds on Tuesday to assess the area and see how the fish were doing.
Traffic delays are expected as a cattle drive moves through the Rifle area. Rifle Police Department has informed the public that significant traffic issues are anticipated as the herd will be traveling from the west along Highway 6 and will make the right to cross the river bridge along Highway 13.

The UBTech Office of the President issued a letter to the community on Monday outlining their plans for reopening. “I am pleased to announce effective May 20th, UBTech campuses will begin enrolling students currently on the pre-registration and testing waitlist,” shares UBTech President Aaron Weight.
TriCounty Health Department announced Monday that additional testing has revealed that two Duchesne County COVID-19 cases were most likely false-positives and therefore they have retracted these two cases. The announcement explains that the cases were determined to be false-positives after the individuals agreed to undergo two additional viral tests and an antibody test which all came back negative.
Uintah High Theatre had a truly successful theatre season and they have the awards to prove it. “Uintah was the most recognized at the Utah High School Musical Theatre Awards on Saturday,” shares Uintah School District. “This event recognizes high school theatre productions and the people and elements that go into creating it.
With Uintah, Duchesne, and Daggett among the counties in the state to enter the Yellow (low-risk) Phase in the Utah Leads Together plan, Uintah Basin Healthcare has announced revisions to their visitation policy. The revised visitation policy takes effect today, May 19th, and includes the following adjustments: Hospital and clinic settings will now allow one visitor for ER, Surgery, OB, Med Surg/ICU, and Clinics.
The Vernal Youth Baseball League is moving forward with their 2020 Spring Baseball Season. “Governor Gary Herbert announced that the state is now moving the Coronavirus recovery from Orange to Yellow which includes the restrictions allowing youth sports to resume,” shares Vernal Youth Baseball.

New local cases of COVID-19 have brought the overall total of confirmed cases for the TriCounty Health District to 19 as of the Sunday Situational Update on www.tricountyhealth.com. Uintah County now has 8 overall total confirmed cases with 6 listed as Recovered.
Utah’s Primary Election will be on June 30th and Uintah County is doing their part to keep the public informed. While the election will be conducted entirely by mail drop boxes will be available for depositing mail-in ballots until 8pm on Election Day, shares Uintah County. There will be no polling places on Election Day.
