KNEU 1250On May 1st, the Environmental Protection Agency announced areas of nonattainment for ozone pollution including parts of the Uintah Basin in Duchesne and Uintah County. Director of the USU Bingham Research Center Seth Lyman explains that “the designation made was Marginal which is the lowest and least onerous of the possible nonattainment classifications.

Beekeeping has become a growing hobby for many Uintah Basin residents and there is a great resource at the library for all experience levels. Bee hobbyist Justin Mills heads up a beekeeping club, the Uintah Beekeepers, that meet the first Tuesday of every month at the Uintah County Library.
Red Fleet State Park has identified a growing issue and is asking for the public’s help. According to the Red Fleet announcement, the dinosaur track site is deteriorating due to individuals throwing rocks, many containing dinosaur tracks, into the water over the past 6 months.
Drivers can expect delays when traveling through Indian Canyon. UDOT began a resurfacing project of an 11-mile section of U.S. 191 on Monday, April 30th. The work has begun at the junction of U.S. 6 and 191 and will run to Jones Hollow at approximately milepost 271.

Armed with 10 gallons of paint and boxes of brushes and rollers, the Altamont High School National Honor Society chapter set out to complete their day of service on Thursday, April 26th. For their project this year, they chose to take steps to fix up the Altamont rodeo grounds.
The Utah Wildlife Board met on Thursday and approved permit numbers for this fall’s hunts with an increase in permits for buck deer, buck pronghorn, bull moose, and bighorn sheep thanks to the healthy wildlife populations.
Zero fatalities is the only acceptable number for Utah roadways and remains the goal for the state. In 2018, there has been 70 lives lost so far in Utah traffic fatalities to date and we are coming up on what is considered the 100 deadliest days on Utah roadways during the summer travel season.
TOP or the Teen Outreach Program in Uintah County has found a unique way to highlight the youth in their program supported by TriCounty Health Department. The ‘TOP in a Box Art Show’ uses photography to show the world through the eyes of these outstanding youth.
A report from the National Park Service shows that tourism to Dinosaur National Monument creates major economic benefits for the surrounding area. According to the report, the Monument had 315,589 visitors in 2017 that spent $18,479,400 dollars in communities near the park.
