Sunday’s False Evacuation Alerts Confuse Uintah County Residents

False alerts sent around the state caused some scrambling and alarm on Sunday evening. Parts of Uintah County were among the areas where Emergency Evacuation text notifications were issued by mistake a little before 5pm. Uintah County Emergency Management responded by announcing that “there are no current evacuation orders in Uintah County…There was a glitch in the Summit County Dispatch System and their evacuation notice was sent to unintended parts of our area.” Only the Henefer area was meant to receive an evacuation order which was related to the Rocky Canyon Fire in that area. Officials say to visit www.UtahFireInfo.gov for the current list of wildfire related evacuation alerts.
