The store’s founders, Jim and Debbie Davis, along with CJ and Lee Davis who joined the store leadership team in 2009, have especially been great supporters of local schools so it’s no surprise they are the next to be recognized by Team Uintah.
Higher education is emphasized in high schools throughout the Basin and one lucky group of students recently enjoyed a college campus tour in Logan. Thirty Ute Tribe members who are high school students from Union and Uintah River high schools traveled to the Utah State University Logan campus for a two day introduction to the college experience.

The Bureau of Land Management announced this week that the Vernal Field Office will be implementing the Tom Patterson Prescribed Fire in Uintah County in October. This project is a multi-year treatment to promote grass and brush habitat in the southern part of the county within the Bookcliffs along the McCook Ridge Road.
A former Highway Patrol trooper already charged with starting the Maeser Highway Fire on June 9th has now been charged with starting a second fire in May. According to a Deseret News report, a grand jury determined on Wednesday that there was sufficient evidence to charge 37-year-old Rex Richard Olsen with setting the May 30th fire on BLM land in eastern Utah that closed Highway 40 and burned 900 acres.
Construction continues on the Roosevelt City State Street and maintenance project. The intersection of State Street and 800 South is closed through Saturday afternoon. Traffic will need to use alternate routes to access homes during this time. Last week, crews were flushing streets that have been chipped throughout the city.

On August 7th, Michael Pearson posted a video to his You Tube channel of a mountain lion swimming across the reservoir while Pearson and his party filmed from nearby fishing boats.
