It’s been a great year for tourism so far. According to Uintah County Travel and Tourism Director Lesha Coltharp, tourism at Dinosaur National Monument was up 4.8% in September, by nearly 6% through the summer and up 11% in May compared to last year. Steinaker and Red Fleet State Park are also reporting record numbers this year for visitors both on the lake and in the campgrounds.
The revitalization of the downtown Vernal Theatre dug up memorabilia of years past that now have a home at the Uintah Heritage Museum. In the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s, the downtown Vernal Theatre was the hot spot every Friday and Saturday night and evidence of that culture were left behind and discovered over the summer as the new Vernal Theatre: Live prepared to open it’s doors.

The Division of Wildlife Resources is anticipating a huge crowd for Utah’s general pheasant hunt, opening this weekend. Opening weekend is always busy, shares the DWR, but hunters can still have a good experience by being courteous and respectful to others.

Ashley Regional Medical Center is getting the right grades when it comes to patient safety. The Leapfrog Group, a national patient safety watchdog, announced Monday that Ashley Regional earned an “A” in patient safety, making the hospital one of only 844 hospitals to receive the highest ranking possible in the entire United States.
