A prescribed burn is planned by the Flaming Gorge-Vernal Ranger District for the Red Canyon and North Flank areas on the north slope of the Uinta Mountains this fall. This is a continuation of burning from the spring and previous years.

Utah Highway Patrol is happy to report that the number of fatalities on Utah roadways during this summer’s 100 Deadliest Days has gone down from 2015. Last year, UHP reported 100 deaths prior to the Labor Day holiday and this year that number dropped to 88 deaths.

Spooky Halloween vibes have come a little early to Roosevelt with a special exhibit from the Natural History Museum of Utah. For the past 16 years, the Salt Lake based museum has paired with Zions Bank locations throughout Utah to host a traveling exhibit known as the Traveling Treasures.

The EPA is considering an application from the Ute Tribe that could have a real effect on the area’s nonattainment status when it comes to air quality. The application being considered was submitted last week and was a joint effort between the Ute Tribe, EPA Region 8 officials, scientists from the USU Bingham Energy Center and the Utah Division of Air Quality.
