A Vernal man has pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted child sex abuse. Steven Joseph Lucero had previously pleaded guilty to Attempted Aggravated Assault and Child Abuse related to an incident on December 5th, 2015 as well as to charges related to domestic violence on December 28th, 2015 and February 5th, 2016.

The D.A.R.E. program is returning to Duchesne County. The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office announced last week that Sheriff Dave Boren and Chief Deputy Travis Tucker both completed the 80 hour officer training that will allow the program to return to Duchesne County.

A strange incident in Neola resulted in the arrest of a man for DUI over the weekend. According to witness Fred Burroughs, a man was parked at his property on 9000 North 2970 West near the old Neola Cemetery with his car doors open and loud arabic music playing.

Employment levels in Utah continue to grow with the latest Department of Workforce Services data showing a decline in the state unemployment rate to 3.9 percent. Utah’s nonfarm payroll employment for July grew by about 3.2 percent.

New Bridge Construction Underway on SR-45

UDOT has started construction on the new bridge on SR-45 south of Vernal that will allow the southernmost stretch of roadway to reopen. According to the UDOT announcement on Thursday, the 157-foot bridge will span an eroded mining trench to reconnect the road and allow the highway to reopen by mid-December.
