A Uintah County man was arrested on Friday after law enforcement pieced together what had to be a confusing situation. The call to dispatch claimed that someone was shot but thankfully in the end that wasn’t the case. Officers arrived to find a 58-year-old man and his elderly mother.
With the Surface Transportation Board announcing their final approval of the Uinta Basin Railway, there are just a few remaining steps for the project to get shovels in the ground. Among them is final approval from the Forest Service as a portion of the railway will cross forest system lands.
The Ute Tribe is among a group pushing for tribal inclusion in Colorado River water decision making. The current policy was negotiated by states in the region in 2007 and it is set to expire in 2026. Tribes are doing the legwork now to ensure they are included in the negotiations moving forward.

Several years in the making, a final decision has been made by the Surface Transportation Baord concerning the proposed Uinta Basin Railway. The STB issued their decision on Wednesday, December 15th.
