The Uintah County woman arrested after shooting her roommate on August 14th has officially been charged in 8th District Court. According to court documents, 72-year-old Gloria Garretson-Cates has been charged with 1 count of 1st Degree Felony Attempted Murder – Knowing and Intentional.
The changes at the Vernal Utah Temple have been moving forward at what seems like a rapid pace. The temple has just entered Phase 2 of its reopening, just in time for the soft landscaping to be planted on the new addition to the temple parking area.
Workers for the 2020 census have already started to visit homes in the Uintah Basin area. The Uintah Basin Association of Governments has shared information to help citizens identify an official census taker. Census takers will only visit from 9am to 9pm in local time.

Bears have also been making their presence known. “There have been a growing number of incidents with bears entering campsites as the use of the Forest and the severity of the drought has increased,” shares Ashley National Forest.
Uintah Basin Technical College will have a scholarship opportunity for students working to get their certification for Security Technician, Network Technician, and IT Support Technician. This special scholarship is made possible by the Les Olson Company in honor of Matt Olson who passed away.

Duchesne County School District recognized several people for their efforts in helping the District with reopening plans during their first school board meeting for the new academic year. Teachers Ashley Hawkins and Taren Schilowsky were both awarded for their efforts.
