KNEU 1250Ashley National Forest has placed fire restrictions to help reduce the potential for wildfires and provide for public safety. These restrictions include no igniting, building, maintaining, or using a fire outside of fire structure provided by the Forest Service;

The Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office provided an update Monday on the search for the missing 34-year-old Rock Springs man and his seven-year-old son. The pair were last seen leaving their campsite near Flaming Gorge Reservoir in an all-terrain vehicle at around 11:30pm on August 6th.
Uintah County is officially in control of the Ashley Springs watershed. The Bureau of Land Management Vernal Field Office announced Monday that the conveyance to Uintah County of the 790 acres of property has been approved.
Progress has continued on the ‘6400 Fire’ that started in Fruitland on Friday. According to fire PIO Mike Eriksson, the fire was 75 percent contained as of Monday evening. “This was a human caused fire that is under investigation,” shares Eriksson.
Ashley National Forest has welcomed new Forest Supervisor Susan Eickhoff. She has served with the Forest Service for 30 years in such roles as District Wildlife Biologist, Ecosystem Biologist, NEPA Contract Coordinator, District Ranger and, recently, Acting Deputy Forest Supervisor on the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre, and Gunnison National Forests and Acting Forest Supervisor on the Shoshone National Forest.
While most high school sports and extracurriculars have moved forward in advance of the school year, some programs have had to make the tough decision to postpone their usual plans.
SweetwaterNOW.com has reported that a middle-aged man and his 7-year-old son were missing after the pair took off on a side by side ride at Flaming Gorge. “The Sheriff’s Office received a call Saturday morning between 6 and 7 am about the missing father and son,” shared SweetwaterNOW.
Daggett County Sheriff’s Office shared some good news over the weekend. The Richard Mountain Fire has reached 90 percent containment and the focus has shifted to working on the perimeter and fire mop up.
A retired local K9 is in need of some help. Arctos is an 8-year-old German Shepard. She retired from the Naples Police Department on March 4th, 2019, after working 3 years as a dual purpose K9.
The ‘6400 Fire’ started around noon on the south side of Highway 40 and unfortunately a house burned down, one was damaged, and several sheds and outbuildings were lost. Thankfully, no loss of life or injury has been reported. Photo Cred: Sharon Cook
There did not appear to be any life threatening injuries as result of a plane crash on Friday morning in Duchesne County. According to the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and emergency personnel were dispatched to the crash near Moon Lake at about 11:45am.
