KNEU 1250Ashley Regional Medical Center issued a press release on Thursday urging the community to wear face masks or cloth face coverings in public areas to help stop the spread of COVID-19 where social distancing is difficult.
TriCounty Health Department announced Thursday that the Vernal Test Utah COVID-19 testing location has been moved from the health department to Uintah Basin Healthcare’s Basin Clinic Urgent Care in Vernal.

Utah Fire Info provided an update on Wednesday evening stating that crews fighting the Allen Fire in Daggett County took advantage of more favorable weather conditions to launch a direct attack on the fire with support from two helicopters.

Construction on Highway 40 in the Strawberry Valley has seen an installation of wildlife crossing, extension of the Strawberry River box culvert, and roadway reconstruction among other things. The Utah Department of Transportation has resumed construction on Highway 40 between Daniel Summit and milepost 46.

Plans to reopen schools are forming and so TriCounty Health Department reminds the Uintah Basin that children need to have their immunizations updated. Specifically those that are entering 7th grade and Kindergarten.
A search is underway for a swimmer who did not resurface at Red Fleet Reservoir on Wednesday. According to Utah State Parks spokesman Eugene Swalberg, the incident happened in the mid-afternoon at Red Fleet State Park when a 33-year-old Uintah County man was on a boat with others in the wakeless area of the reservoir.
The Uintah School District Board of Education approved the 2020-2021 school year reopening plan during a public meeting Tuesday night held at the Vernal Middle School auditorium. The Board unanimously approved a motion to approve the framework of the proposed reopening plan with the intent to start the school at 100 percent capacity pending consultation with TriCounty Health in August before the school start date.
