KNEU 1250The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office is warning the community of a phone scam that has recently had multiple reports. “Several people have reported receiving phone calls from an individual who says he works for our agency,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “He identifies himself as Sgt. Jason Glass.
TriCounty Health Department continues to keep the Uintah Basin informed on the latest with the COVID-19 pandemic through their website and on Facebook. As of the state’s April 6th report, the total case count in the state of Utah is 1,675 with 138 of those being hospitalized and resulting in 13 deaths in the state.

The FBI is warning that scammers are taking advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, the FBI is warning the healthcare industry of increased fraudulent activity with COVID-19 related medical equipment. “Based on the current stress on the supply chain, scammers may promise equipment they do not have access to in order to capitalize on the medical community’s urgent needs,” shares the FBI.

Uintah School District Superintendent Rick Woodford provided a District update last week reminding all in the District that Spring Break officially begins on Monday, April 6th, and school will not resume again in Uintah School District until Tuesday, April 14th.

The Uintah County community has been blessed for many years with a local recycling program run by the Uintah School District Can Do Crew. Due to current circumstances, the District announced on Thursday that the recycling program is temporarily being closed for the safety of the program staff.
Governor Gary Herbert made several announcements on Wednesday, one of which had to do with recreation. The recommendation that residents only visit state parks in their own county was upgraded to an Order. This means state parks will be enforcing this with the backing of health departments, explained the Governor.
