Adams, the Director of Operations for Gold Cross Ambulance, has shared what the local EMT service is doing to stay ahead of COVID-19.
With businesses having to close their doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic it is no surprise there is a growing number of unemployment insurance claims coming into the state. In an Unemployment Insurance Claims Report shared on Thursday, the Department of Workforce Services reported that last week alone there was 28,560 new claims filed in the state and a total of nearly $4 million dollars paid out in benefits.
Small businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Utah with 50 or less employees need to act fast on a new bridge loan program offered by the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. The Utah Leads Together Small Business Bridge Loan program has repurposed $8 million dollars in state economic development funds to offer small business loans ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 dollars with 0% interest for up to 60 months. The applications are due Friday by noon and if funds remain the application period will reopen the following Monday through Friday.
There has been a lot of public discussion and opinions shared on social media about the handling of those in Uintah County needing to be isolated due to possible exposure to COVID-19 or in one case, having a positive test result.
A grass fire in Uintah County resulted in exterior fire to a home on Wednesday afternoon. According to Uintah County Fire Marshal Jeremy Raymond, a person driving by called the fire in at around 2:30pm. The fire was burning on the exterior of the home and burning in the front yard, grass, leaves, trees, and some combustible items.
Ashley Regional Medical Center is grateful for the ongoing support from the community and announced Tuesday that they are accepting donations of unused and handmade medical and protective supplies and equipment. “This move is part of Ashley Regional’s ongoing efforts to address the COVID-19 pandemic and prepare for increased needs of personal protective equipment (PPE), which healthcare providers across the nation are experiencing,” shares the announcement.

Naples City formally issued an Emergency Declaration Executive Order on March 31st concerning the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The declaration states that this constitutes an official recognition that there is a local emergency affecting Naples City and that it provides a legal basis for requesting and obtaining mutual aid and disaster assistance.
Uintah Basin Healthcare has shared a helpful video featuring their Behavioral Health provider Dr. Colver, offering helpful tips on maintaining mental health and emotional wellbeing during the COVID-19 pandemic. “First, it's important to recognize that what we are experiencing right now is unprecedented,” shares Dr. Colver.
The Duchesne County Library System announced Tuesday that their libraries have been closed to the public until further notice. “Curbside checkout continues and returns to the drop boxes have now resumed,” shares their announcement. “The library has instituted a quarantine procedure to address health concerns about returned items.”
