Ashley National Forest Reports Successful Spring Burning Season
Ashley National Forest east zone fire program reports that so far they are having a successful spring burning season. According to Tuesday’s report, the program has been able to apply prescribed fire to approximately 1,000 acres around the Pines and Acres area of the Flaming Gorge-Vernal Ranger District.

Interactive Murals Making Debut in Downtown Vernal This Week
Local artists are putting their skills to work on a grand scale. An effort spearheaded by the Vernal Hospitality Committee is adding art to downtown in the form of interactive murals. The murals are dinosaur-themed and are aimed at creating photo opportunities to encourage tourists and locals to get out of the car and walking around.
Cause Still Undetermined in Uintah County Death
While accounts of what lead to the death of a Uintah County man on April 13th are circulating, the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office has made it clear that the investigation is ongoing and the cause of death is still undetermined.
North Myton Fire Contained
A fire that began Tuesday afternoon northeast of Myton was contained thanks to the efforts of 9 agencies. According to the North Myton Fire Unified Command, which is composed of fire officials from state, tribal, county, and local departments, the North Myton Fire started at about 3:00pm and burned an estimated 30 to 50 acres on private and tribal land roughly 2 miles northeast of Myton.
FBI Asking for Help
The FBI is asking for the help of Utahns in locating a young lady who has been missing since November. Danielle Diamond is from Bozeman, Montana and may have been seen in Salt Lake City in the past month and may have since traveled to Denver, where she spent last summer in homeless shelters. She is 5 foot 7 inches tall with medium to dark brown long, wavy hair. She has brown eyes and weighs around 140 pounds.
