KNEU 1250Utah Highway Patrol has now reported that the semi tanker that caught fire on Highway 40 on Wednesday afternoon was hauling production water, not condensate as previously believed. It was also determined that the accident was caused by equipment failure.

Flames engulfed a semi on Wednesday afternoonon Highway 40 in the Fort Duchesne area. According to Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Brett Gehring, a double tanker semi was traveling eastbound at Mile Marker 121 near the light at Fort Duchesne a little after 3:30pm when an axle came off and the back trailer overturned on the highway.
An equipment operator remains hospitalized after sustaining a serious injury while working at the Craig Station last Thursday. According to a statement from Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, the accident took place in the early afternoon when a heavy equipment operator’s leg was injured while working around a train.

A local Utah Highway Patrol officer saved the life of a motorist on Highway 40 on Monday night. According to UHP Sgt. Kellie Oaks, Trooper Colter Bentley was waved over to help on a motorist assist.
