Red Fleet Fishery Doing Well
After two nights of electroshocking and gathering data on fish, DWR biologists have good news. The fish stocked in Red Fleet Reservoir this year are doing well. Last October, Red Fleet was treated with rotenone to remove illegal walleye that posed a threat to endangered fish that live below the reservoir.
Remodeling at Dinosaur Museum
The Utah Field House has something new for patrons to enjoy. After being closed for several weeks, the outdoor displays of the museum have reopened after being remodeled. “We’re excited to have the garden back open after being closed for three weeks,” shares Field House Park Manager Steve Sroka.
Resource Management Plan Continues
Area agencies are continuing their work on the development of Resource Management Plans for local counties. Legislation passed last year requires counties to develop and include the Resource Management Plan in their general plans “to be used as a basis for communicating and coordinating with the federal government on land and resource management issues.”
Successful Ride for Children’s Justice Center Benefit
The Uintah Basin Back Country Horsemen annual Children’s Justice Center benefit was a success last weekend. Over 70 people participated in this year’s charity event held at the Lake Mountain trailhead on Mosby Mountain and according to organization board member Gale Robbins, the annual ride has raised well over $100,000 dollars in total donations over the 13 years of the event.
International Flags to be Displayed at Utah Field House
A colorful addition to the Utah Field House lawn is aimed at welcoming tourists and sprucing up the new Vernal Information Center sign destined for the same spot. According to Field House Park Manager Steve Sroka, the word is still getting out that free information on the Vernal area is available at the museum.
