The Uintah/Daggett Children’s Justice Center is offering special classes to help local families rise to the challenge. Up next is a class for children ages 9 to 12 to be held Tuesday, April 16th.
The hard working ladies of the Uintah County Regional History Center were on hand at the Uintah County Library on Tuesday night for their latest book signing event. Gilsonite Country was written by the Uintah County Regional History Center staff and features events, stories and experiences that the rare mineral gilsonite has had to the area.
Watching a classmate carried away in a body bag leaves a serious impact. Thankfully, in this case, the experience was part of a MOCK car wreck aimed at showing Rangely Jr. and Sr. High School students that Seatbelts Save Lives! Student council members worked with the Colorado State Patrol, Rangely Police Department, Fire Department, Ambulance, and Hospital to set up the realistic car wreck and scenario to act out the wreck’s aftermath in the front parking lot of the high school.

Some travelers were concerned yesterday to see what appeared to be an abandoned crashed car on the side of the road up Dry Fork Canyon. The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that there was a crash just before 5:00 pm on Tuesday near Remember the Maine Park.
Ten individuals were arrested after an undercover internet sex predator operation that covered western Colorado. According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, the three day operation was a joint effort between local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, working to locate child sex predators.
The Utah Department of Transportation has issued a weather warning for across the state saying that winter will be making its return as a strong spring storm will impact Utah roads through Thursday. A Colorado man has passed away after a two vehicle crash on Highway 40 near the Split Mountain Truck Center in Uintah County. According to Utah Highway Patrol, the accident took place on Sunday at Mile Post 152 on Highway 40 at 3:21pm. A 1993 blue Chevy pickup was traveling westbound while a 2014 Ford Focus was traveling eastbound.
The Public Relations Committee of the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce recognized the Vernal Christian Church and its members for their humanitarian efforts during a recent Chamber luncheon. After the major earthquake in Haiti in 2010, the Vernal Christian Church determined to do something to help those people and in the last 6 years have made 7 service trips there where over half of the population lives in severe poverty.
