‘Go Out and Play’ Exhibit at the Uintah County Heritage Museum

Jean Piaget is quoted as saying “if you want to be creative, stay in part a child, with the creativity and invention that characterizes children before they are deformed by adult society.” The new exhibit at the Uintah County Heritage Museum is celebrating just that. Entitled ‘Go Out and Play’, the exhibit features artists from Utah and Arizona in a variety of mediums. Each piece reflects how traditional play has been trivialized and is in jeopardy by modern screen time.

Semi Overturns on Highway 40 in Accident with Passenger Car

Thankfully injuries were minor in an accident that took place between Naples and Jensen involving a semi and passenger car on Sunday evening. According to Utah Highway Patrol, the crash took place at about 5:05pm on Highway 40 at MM 155. A passenger car was making a turn off of Highway 40 when a westbound semi truck and trailer struck the corner of the car.

UBTech Opening New Welding Building

UBTech is opening the doors to their new state-of-the-art welding building and the public is invited to the building’s grand opening later this month. The need for the facility goes without saying, with over 2,000 students in the past five years being involved with the program in Roosevelt and Vernal.

Tabiona Tigers Boys Basketball 1A State Champs

The Tabiona Tigers are the 1A Boys Basketball State Champions! The boys beat out Panguitch on Saturday night with a final score of 47 – 39. A Deseret News article shares what a special win this was. 1999 was the last time Tabiona won the state title and Coach Gines was the coach then too.

Dr. Seth Lyman of the USU Bingham Research Center reports that the inversion over the Uintah Basin finally broke up and mixed out on Saturday, ending last week’s ozone episode. It was a night of much deserved recognition at the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office annual awards banquet held on Wednesday night at the Centennial Events Center. Lt. John Crowley gave the keynote address and Sheriff Travis Tucker handed out the awards to deputies, staff, volunteers, and community partners. Corrections Sgt. Bryant Cook earned the Correctional Officer of the Year Award.

Terra Academy Boys Basketball Head to State in First Year With a Team

A local high school is making a run for a state championship in their very first year of play. The Terra Academy Boys Basketball team finished their season with 11 wins and just one loss, ranking them first in their division and sending them on a quest for the 2019 USSA state basketball championship for smaller schools in the state of Utah. The Terra Tigers hosted the East Hollywood High Manbears out of West Valley on Wednesday.
