Furever Buddy’s Rescue Moving to New Location; Requesting Donations

Furever Buddy’s Rescue has a hope to provide a 1st class adoption center for the Basin. The rescue has been in a facility behind the Roosevelt Animal Shelter for years. Due to its limited space and the deterioration of the building, Furever Buddy’s has announced that they will be moving. As much as the shelter helps the community, shares Furever Buddy’s, it is not a no-kill shelter and they can only house the animals for a short period before they euthanize.

Public Lands Package Affecting Uintah Basin Headed to President’s Desk

Years in the making, a lands package with a number of sections relevant to the Uintah Basin is on its way to President Trump’s desk. S. 47, the Natural Resources Management Act, was passed by the House of Representatives on Tuesday, moving forward a piece of legislation that expands access to public lands which Representative Rob Bishop says is considered a major win, especially for sportsmen, hunters, and fishermen across America.

Celebrating Seuss in the Basin

On Friday, March 1, the Uintah County Library and the Literacy Commission will be celebrating with a Dr. Seuss Day party based on his book The Foot Book. Support for BTA Displayed During Monday’s Joint City-County Meeting

Uintah County’s joint City-County meeting held on Monday welcomed members of the community as the future of the Basin Transit Authority in Uintah County was discussed. Officials representing Uintah County, Naples, Ballard, and Vernal City meet monthly, working together to address a wide variety of needs within Uintah County. The BTA services and funding was the only item for Monday’s meeting which allowed many community members the opportunity to offer input.

Uintah County Commission Tables Elected Official Salary Proposal

The proposed elected official salary adjustment was on Monday’s agenda for the Uintah County Commission but did not move forward. The Clerk/Auditor’s Office confirmed that the resolution was tabled indefinitely. The resolution caught many elected officials by surprise when the Uintah County Commission brought it forward during their February 4th meeting.

If you know anyone who skis, snowboards, snowmobiles, or snowshoes in the backcountry be sure they are being avalanche safe. Part of that is having the rescue gear, a beacon, shovel, probe partner, and the knowledge to use them.

Utah Field House Reopens After Two Week Closure

The doors to the Utah Field House in Vernal have officially reopened to the public. The dinosaur museum had to close earlier this month when the facility’s boiler went out, leaving the building without proper heat. “The cold temperatures of course meant the museum was chilly and we were worried about pipes freezing so we had temporary heating systems up with cords everywhere,” shares Mary Beth Bennis, Field House Curator of Education.
