A young man is fighting for his life after a semi and car collided on Highway 13 between Meeker and Rifle on the morning of the 4th of July. Highway 13 was closed for several hours.
Maeser is a safer place with the new Maeser fire substation opening its doors. While the official grand opening won’t take place until July 21st, trucks were parked in their new home Thursday night making the station operational. The Vernal Department will run the substation with existing equipment and volunteers.

Social media has been swirling with rumors of large Basin fires with cases of news stories circulating that are out of date. The Uintah Basin Interagency Fire Center confirmed Friday afternoon that while there have been 2 to 5 little fires a day, there hasn’t been any of significance.
The annual Flaming Gorge Osprey Watch is a favorite among locals and known as a chance to see more than just osprey. Other birds of prey, including golden eagles, turkey vultures and American kestrels are frequently spotted at the annual event, shares DWR outreach manager Tonya Kieffer.
