KNEU 1250A Critical Incident Response Team is investigating an officer involved shooting that occured on Sunday afternoon in western Colorado’s Mesa County. According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, two BLM officers approached a white van in the desert near the Bookcliffs in Mesa County and 27 ¼ Road and an officer involved shooting took place.
The Pine Ridge Fire activity is at a minimum, according to a Utah Fire Info report on Monday morning. No growth occurred on Sunday night and firelines held through the night. Full containment is expected by the end of Thursday’s shift.
Suppression efforts on the Pine Ridge Fire northwest of Vernal continue. Officials report that the fireline held well overnight. As of Sunday at noon, containment was estimated at 10 percent. The most active part of the fire is east off Sawtooth Ridge and the fire behavior was reported as creeping and backing.
Crews continue to battle a wildfire in the Pine Ridge area of Deep Creek/Dry Fork. According to UtahFireInfo.gov, the Pine Ridge Fire was called in at 1:03pm Saturday afternoon on private and BLM land 18 miles northwest of Vernal.

The Ute Tribe announced Tuesday that a historic agreement has been reached betweenthe Tribe and the townsite of Myton regarding joint marketing of water in the UintaBasin. According to the press release dated May 22nd, the agreement provides thatMyton and the Tribe will jointly market water resources to energy developers in need ofwater for oil and gas development activities on and near the Uintah and OurayReservation.
A fire in Uintah County resulted in the total loss of one structure. According to UintahCounty Fire Marshal Jeremy Raymond, the fire occurred Thursday afternoon. Vernal FireDepartment responded to the call at 3000 North Vernal Avenue and quickly contained theblaze.

A man that was in extremely critical condition after a two vehicle accident in Roosevelton May 12th has passed away. According to Utah Highway Patrol, 25-year-old CameronMartinez of Roosevelt drifted off the right shoulder and over-corrected back to the leftsending the truck into the path of an eastbound passenger car.
Native American art sculptures that were originally reported as taken from the Craig KOA campground earlier this month were actually taken to the Moffat County landfill. The Craig Daily Press reports that the life-sized copper sculptures were made by a local artist and were property of the State of Colorado Public Arts Registry. One sculpture is of a “Fan Dancer”and the other is a young female with braids.
